Afternic released its Portfolio API. Here’s how to use it – Domain Name Wire | Domain Name News
New API makes it possible to integrate with other tools and manage your portfolio.
Afternic’s Portfolio API is now open to all sellers.
The API lets sellers automate tasks and optimize their portfolio. I’ve used it in two ways:
- Add listings – When I have bulk listings to add, the API can be easier to use than Afternic’s web system. You can upload listings, set prices, turn on/off LTO, and choose landers.
- Review statistics – I use the API to pull search data for my domains so I can see which domains are trending.
You can do both of these examples with Afternic Portfolio Agent, and many sellers should stick with that tool.
The API adds value in a few ways:
- If you have a large portfolio
- If you want to integrate your Afternic portfolio with third-party tools
- To automate regular processes
It can be especially powerful if you also integrate GoDaddy’s other APIs, such as the Auctions API and Domains API.
From an automation standpoint, one idea is to set up a simple app that emails you trending search data for your domains on a regular schedule.
If you regularly use an LLM for your domain investing, a simple way to start is to point it to the Portfolio API documentation with a prompt like this:
“Afternic now has an API. Given what you know about my domain investing, what are some ways we can use this to optimize my portfolio and domain investing processes?”
Of course, be careful with your API key. Never post it directly in an LLM chat.
